Summer 2022 Marquee Review

We’ve hardly had time to draw breath – 2022 is proving to be busy, busy, busy!

Marquee wedding frenzy

Over the first three months of our year it’s been weddings, weddings, weddings. We have at last had the final of our postponed lockdown weddings – it’s a great feeling and our wedding couple must be over the moon to be married after all this time and multiple postponements! High Wards (Gartocharn) on the shores of Loch Lomond was the venue for several of the weddings. Carefully managed by owner Emily Morrison and her husband Jim, High Wards is a super self catering venue which sleeps 22 guests which is less that an hour away from central Glasgow. We love working at such a stunning location and although we won’t be back until next year now, we already have several dates peppered throughout the 2023 season booked in already. Other wedding locations from this summer include a wedding in Troon overlooking the Golf Course and two local weddings at Toward near our home base in Dunoon, both close to the shores with stunning views.

Mountain Bike World Cup

We were back at the Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup in May, brought forward from its usual slot in June. We installed our usual range of marquees which included the VIP marquee, TV/media, first aid, and welfare to name a few. Fierce Beer, an Aberdeen based brewery, also had a marquee on hire from us. A floored 9m x 3m structure fitted their requirements nicely and provided a perfect spot for a quick beer whilst sheltering from the occasional downpours!!

The end of June had our usual large events, the Royal Highland Show at Ingliston and the Scottish Game Fair at Scone Palace. The image from the Game Fair sums up the Scottish summer perfectly – a blue sky peppered with white clouds… but you are never too far away from a grey rain cloud though!! Thanks to 3d2d for letting us use their images!

Both events are large builds for the team and take several days to complete, this year the events were over consecutive weekends which means a tight turn around for the staff. Both shows were really well attended and the weather largely behaved itself. We have missed these events and it’s just great to see them being so well supported after their two year forced break.
