useful Things to Know when Hiring a Marquee
Marquees are not just for good weather
With the effective forms of heating now available, marquees can be used all year round. In the winter the number of heating units is increased and strategically placed to ensure that the heat is evenly distributed throughout the marquee.
Kitchen and toilet marquees are also heated in the winter to ensure that the heat from the main marquee is not drawn away from the function area.
Marquees can be erected indoors
It is also possible to install indoor marquees for example in a warehouse to give a more intimate area for functions, storage or temporary office accommodation.
Extra and/or temporary storage
Marquees can offer a quick and easy solution to temporary storage problems, e.g. for supermarkets or hotels at peak times such as Christmas. Ellis Brigham Mountain Sports Shop use a large marquee for the end of season sale in August over a four-day period. Find out more about marquees for temporary storage.
Marquees can be used all year round
Modern effective heating means that marquees can be used just as effectively in winter time. Heating units are increased in numbers, bulk fuel tanks can be linked in to ensure continual heat and the units are strategically placed to ensure even heat throughout the marquee including kitchen and toilet areas.
Any Surface
Marquees are generally pinned into the ground through footplates and thus they can be installed on a variety of surfaces such as grass, hardcore, etc. Marquees can also be installed using weight ballast to avoid pinning into surfaces such as tarmac or concrete.
Uneven Ground or Sloping Sites
We can offer specialised flooring to deal with sloping and uneven sites. Our steel sub-based floors allow marquees to be built up over uneven surfaces, flower beds, pathways, etc. They can also be used on sloping sites to ensure a perfectly level surface. Should the slope be too great to use the sub-base floor then it may still be possible to install a marquee, but a scaffolded platform may require to be installed in the first instance.
Connect to Buildings
Marquees can be seamlessly connected to buildings via link corridors. This helps keep a circulation space and link to the main building to keep out bad weather, place services outwith the main function marquee or be used as an entrance/exit to an offstage area.
