INDUSTRIAL USE MARQUEE HIRE FAQ
Our most frequently asked questions
regarding industrial use marquee hire
Since 1998 we have provided a diverse range of marquees for industrial use. We have had some unusual and challenging requests ranging from covering a level crossing bridge for overnight laying of a specialist road surface to temporary cover for emergency services during recovery and investigations of a plane crash site in a remote hillside location. However, more common uses are temporary storage, car valet areas and temporary accommodation during refurbishments.
We have a range of marquee sizes available starting in a 3m width which can form temporary walkways or corridors linking two areas during refurbishment, etc. Our 6m structures are ideal for smaller storage areas and it was this size that ScotRail used as a covered walkway for several months during refurbishment of Queen Street Station in Glasgow. Gala Bingo used a similar structure for an outside smoking area with bingo machines during replacement of their old shelter.
Normally industrial installations require functional lighting and we therefore tend to put in our LED floodlights which offer a good light with little power draw. However, other styles are available if preferred.
Heating is normally provided using indirect diesel fired heating which sits outside the marquee and blows hot air through ducts. If the marquees are within confined spaces e.g. within factory units or sheds then electric heating can be provided instead. All heaters are thermostatically controlled and can be run of bulk tanks to ensure plentiful supply of fuel.
See our general Marquee Frequently Asked Questions for full details on site factors and weather implications. We can include a range of ballast options for marquees that are not sited in fields as very often industrial sites are on hard standing. For sites that are on grass we can provide ground protection to get all our equipment on site to avoid causing damage.
We will endeavour to install a marquee to meet the needs of our clients. Over the years we have had some challenges e.g. on the flight deck of a Navy Frigate and on top of a recovered sunken tugboat during police evidence gathering.
A wedding day is one of the most important days in a couple’s life and it is important that everything goes well and it is important that they secure a marquee company that they have full confidence in.
A chat on the phone or a meeting should give a good indication of the relationship that would be formed over the months running up to the big day.
It is always wise to find out about previous marquee weddings they have provided and get examples of where they have worked and perhaps ask for venues or clients who would provide a reference.
We aim to be as flexible as possible with every client and the install/removal will depend on where and when your event takes place. If you are using a venue where the marquee is using their car park then they probably want it installed the day before and removed the day after.
If the marquee is in your garden and you want to do a lot of the decorating yourself then it can be installed a few days before. We are always happy to leave the marquee in place for a day or so after the wedding for another informal get together which is becoming very popular.
Most marquees are heated using indirect heaters which sit outside and blow warm air through ducts and are thermostatically controlled. We include heating in our quoted price and therefore we adjust the number of heating units supplied dependent on the size of marquee, time of year and weather forecast thus ensuring that a marquee can be adequately heated at any time of year.
A variety of lighting effects are available. We include a modern white globe chandelier as standard but can provide a range of lighting effects including colour changing LED entertainment lighting, fairy lighting, uplighters, brass chandeliers all from our own stock.
Access to water is normally required for use by the caterer and if a luxury toilet trailer is required; however this can be as simple as running a hose from a local water supply.
We don’t own toilets but have many years experience so can make the arrangements on your behalf. If budget allows or weddings are in the colder months then it can be wise to have the toilet trailers housed within the marquee. This area can be a simply marquee roof or can be fully finished as an integrated part of the function area.
Standard finish for a wedding marquee is a wooden floor, windows, doors, softly pleated ivory lining, lighting and heating (with a carpet being down to personal choice). After that the additional decor opportunities are endless.
We are also happy for clients to add their own extra decor such as lanterns, bunting etc. We can also recommend some venue dressers that can assist with internal dressing of both the marquees and tables.
