Types of Packages

It is always difficult to “package” marquees for events as the advantage of having a marquee is being able to design your own internal space.

The required space is dependent on layout and what you wish to incorporate within the function area e.g. dining tables, a straight top table, buffet tables, larger bar area, stage area for a band, chill-out area.

However, as an indication of space required, here are some examples of sizes using fairly standard layouts for each function type.

Party for 50 Guests

Ideal for Parties, Christenings, First Communions, etc

Birthday, Engagement and Anniversary Parties are becoming popular marquee events within private gardens. Depending on the event, the internal finish can be altered e.g. an 18th birthday party may not require internal lining drapes, but may wish entertainment style lighting, whereas a Golden Wedding anniversary may take place at lunchtime and require very little lighting.

Party for 70 Guests

Small weddings, parties, anniversaries

By the time the numbers are up around 70, and especially for weddings, it will probably be necessary to have a small catering area for service/clearing during the meal. Again the internal finish can be altered depending on the event.

Family Wedding For 120/130 Guests

A wedding with guest numbers of around 120 will probably require a slightly larger catering area but this can depend on the type of meal being served and whether there is a plated starter or dessert needing laid out prior to service. Additional items may have to be considered such as space for a cake table, band and bar area.

Corporate events really need to be discussed in detail as it is important that the client’s needs and expectations are met. The size will be dependent on the type of function with consideration being given to the type of dining/reception/entertainment requirements.

Additional Options

The beauty of marquee events is that anything is possible and there is a wide range of options and additional items that can be added to enhance the marquee. Some examples are:

Tables

Various sizes of table are available for various purposes; trestle tables come in a variety of lengths and are used for dining, buffet layout, bars and kitchen prep areas.

Round tables are normally used for dining and come in a variety of sizes with the most common being 4ft diameter (seating 6), 5ft diameter (seating 8/9) and 6ft diameter (seating 10/12).

Smaller tables are also available for wedding cakes, poseur tables for bar areas and feature bar furniture which includes LED lighting technology.

Chairs

A wide range of chairs are available including folding banqueting (gold frames/red upholstery), standard banqueting (gold frames/red upholstery and silver frames/blue upholstery), Bentwood (gold/silver/black frames) Chiavari (silver or limewash effect frames) plus event chairs and outdoor furniture. Bentwood and Chiavari chairs have inter-changeable seat pads available in a range of colours such as red, blue, green, gold, purple and ivory.

Toilet Marquees

Housing a luxury toilet trailer within a marquee allows toilets to be fully integrated with the function area, avoiding the need for guests to go outside at any point – this is particularly beneficial for winter marquee functions. The toilet marquee also allow for additional features such as coat rails, cheval mirrors and tables with “emergency” toiletries, tissues etc.

Star Cloth Ceilings

Although star cloths are traditionally black they are now also available in royal blue, red and ivory.

The darker star cloths can be used to feature the dance area or can be spread across the marquee interspersed with ivory to give colour without darkening the whole area.

Ivory star cloths can be used throughout but bear in mind that during the summer months it will be quite late in the evening before the full event can be seen.

Feature Dance Floors

Although a wooden marquee floor is perfectly suitable for dancing; clients wishing to make a feature of the dance floor can have the options of a wide variety of dance floors e.g. black LED, white LED, Black and White, Polished Hardwood, Mirrored.
