Tents and Events is coming out of hibernation to get the year’s events rolling!
Â
We have been a bit quiet on here for a few months but the lack of posts certainly doesn’t mean the Tents and Events team hasn’t been busy.
Winter is always a time for us to take stock, reflect on the year we’ve had and look forward to the coming season ahead. The office is busy with quotations for prospective clients and fresh quotes for our existing clients. A lot of our schedules are taken up with annual events so we work closely with our clients to assess their events and plan for their ongoing requirements.
Our staff undertake a host of training over the quieter months to keep us up to date with our health and safety standards and to continue providing the first-class service that we do. A lot of the training is digital-based these days and this winter we have new fully trained vehicle banksmen and PAT testers for the yard. Our First Aiders needed their certification refreshed in January so we made the decision to train all the staff on emergency first aid – skills for the workplace but also for life in general! On top of this our regular, routine digital training was updated on valuable subjects such as manual handling, fire risks and health and safety awareness.
With the majority of our tents being down and in hibernation over the winter, we take the opportunity to wash all the PVC – as you can imagine it’s a vast task for us. The team works for days on end with brushes, cleaning solution and a fair amount of elbow grease to get the PVC clean after being out all summer. The larger pieces go through our Havencrown machine in the yard and are finished off in our drying room.
We clean and strip our marquee doors of any debris, wash and treat the windows, tidy up/reband and categorise lining wires, wash our soft linings, clean our matting, stack equipment – basically if anything needs to be done now is the time to do it.

We take the opportunity to sand and varnish our flooring ready for the season too – and we have A LOT of flooring! We sand them down to remove the old varnish and then recoat them with fresh hardwearing yacht varnish for the thousands of people that walk over them every year!
By the time April comes along, the team is physically and mentally ready to be back out onsite again. We are 2023 ready… so bring it on!
Contact us about your event, wedding or special occasion and enjoy our first-class service and top-quality marquee packages.
