Client Requirement
Best of the West Festival’s organisers were looking for a U-shaped set up so that the festival could have an intimate feel whilst attracting several thousand people. The main feature was a large Ceilidh Tent with bar facilities, which was joined to a large Food Hall featuring some of Argyll’s finest food suppliers. A craft area and children’s entertainment were added attractions to the event.
Marquee Style
The two main Clearspan marquees installed were a 15m x 40m music tent (with a 6m x 6m artists’ green room) adjoining the 15m x 30m Food Tent in an L-shape. A 9m x 45m unit, with internal partitions, formed the other part of the U-shape to accommodate a whisky tent, craft marquee and children’s come-and-try-it craft area.
Location
Inveraray Castle, Argyll
Features
The main feature of this event was the size of the marquees involved and ensuring that they remained secure in the traditional windy weather associated with the autumn equinox. There was also a great deal of power distribution associated with meeting the requirements of all the food outlets so two 80 kVA generators were brought in from Apex to deal with this aspect. This is now one of several music and food festivals that we are associated with in both Argyll and Ayrshire.
Solution
Extra crew members were brought in due to the tight scheduling of the installation and we used additional concrete weights to augment our standard marquee pins as the forecast was for stormy weather.
