Client Requirement
Easter weekend was the setting for an 18th Birthday Party with a Beach Theme! The client had asked if we could provide the necessary infrastructure to meet the requirements of Colin Lipsey of Display Works who is a well-known Glasgow Party Planner with a real eye for detail.
Colin planned to create a beach theme to include changing areas and real sand for authenticity.
Marquee Style
A 12m x 20m Marquee was installed using steel sub-base cassette flooring and raised high enough to span over a raised pond.
A 6m x 12m covered platform was formed for the inclusion of portable toilets.

This was a challenging event due to the lack of access to the site as there was no direct vehicle access and the specification included the supply of portable toilets and for sand to be laid throughout the marquee.
Solution
Our suspended flooring system was the perfect solution to span the garden pond with access for all equipment by manual handling. A honey beige carpet was laid and then our staff installed 6 tonnes of sand using wheelbarrows. Whilst the marquee itself was very basic it provided the ideal blank canvas required by both Display Works and CPE Lighting.
The inclusion of themed props combined with some stunning lighting effects brought the event to life and although it was probably the coldest weekend of the year the party went with a swing.
Dismantling after the event was also challenging as there was no access to remove the full toilets so they had to be manually handled to an outside wall for emptying and then taken back out through the front access. The sand also had to be removed by wheelbarrow and taken offsite.
This event required all sub-contractors to work together to ensure a cost-effective and smooth operation for the client.
