Eco-Friendly Racing Takes the Stage: Tents and Events' Proud Involvement with Extreme E
We were thrilled to be among the team of suppliers supporting the Hydro X Prix event for Extreme E, a radical off-road racing series. This amazing race took place at an old opencast coal mine near Sanquhar, a site with plans to become a pumped storage hydro power scheme, promoting sustainability and clean energy in Dumfries and Galloway and the surrounding areas.
Extreme E races take place in some of the most remote corners of the planet, many of which are impacted by climate change. Featuring ten teams, each consisting of a male and female driver, the series aims to shed light on global issues and inspire the next generation to take action.
The racing extravaganza started in Saudi Arabia, moved on to Scotland for races three and four in May 2023, journeyed on to Sardinia and will then go to the USA or the Amazon before concluding in Chile in September 2023.
Tents and Events provided the perfect pit stop with a spacious 15m x 40m marquee that served as the hospitality area, including kitchen facilities to cater to the crews and support teams. The build-up process began two weeks before the event, allowing the tented village to take shape to house race officials, teams and broadcast facilities.
To maintain a low carbon footprint, no spectators were allowed on-site, emphasising the commitment to environmental consciousness.
