November gave us two brand new venues to work at.
The first venue was the Emirates Stadium, Glasgow – home to the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome – for the TISSOT UCI Track Cycling World Cup. The marquees were situated outside for entry lanes for the visitors and guests and general weather protection (it is Scotland after all!). It was a pleasure to work with British Cycling at this event.
With Christmas almost upon us, we were delighted to be awarded the job for installing a marquee at Ikea for their Christmas Tree sales. Along with selling the trees, there were great activities in the marquee – biscuit decorating, bauble decorating and a selfie area! With our Glasgow depot being located in Hillington, it’s only 5 minutes away and it’s always great to work locally.
Christmas Marquees in Dunoon
Our main depot in Dunoon was busy with Christmas activities too! The local PA23 BID organised the Dunoon Dazzles Christmas event. The main street is closed late in the afternoon and market stalls are installed along the street for the local businesses to use. This year there is an additional marquee in the Argyll Gardens area for a Family Ceilidh. We installed a 6m x 12m floored marquee with panoramic window walls and festoon lighting. Once the street event was finished, the team were on site on the Saturday evening to remove our structures and get the main road reopened.
Race Course Association Showcase and Awards Event
This month saw our long-standing clients Hamilton Park Racecourse hosting the Race Course Association Showcase and Awards Event. The Showcase and Awards is the RCA’s annual marquee event, celebrating excellence and innovation in racecourse customer experience. The event is taken around the country each year, allowing the host racecourse to demonstrate their first-class hospitality.
Our task was to install a marquee suitable for a top-class awards ceremony and we certainly achieved that – the management team were absolutely delighted with the results. The marquee was a 15 metre x 35 metre corporate-grade marquee (3 metre leg height to the eaves) with a 3m x 3.5m link to The Hill and a 6m x 6m and 3m x 3m link into the main kitchen. The structure was on our steel sub based flooring to give a perfectly flat finish and was finished off with a purple carpet throughout. With 30 metres of solid glazing, the marquee had a light, bright, airy feel to it, with our ivory lining adding to the finished look. We added our glass balustrade to complement the 3 canopy roofs over the entrance – it adds extra quality to the whole area and looks very special indeed. We were delighted with the finished product and so was our client – yet another satisfied customer.

Marquee Winter Maintenance
In amongst all of this, the team have started the massive task of the winter maintenance. This involves washing all the linings before packing them away fresh for the new season, all the PVC covers and roofs (this is a mammoth task!) and servicing and maintaining our equipment, tools and furniture.
