The month of March passed with a flurry of maintenance, washing and varnishing getting ready for the busy marquee and events season ahead. Every floor board in the yard has been sanded and varnished and ready for a season full of events – what a job!
Marquee weddings in Argyll
We hosted our first wedding of the year at Balinakill House, Clachan near Tarbert. The house is a large self catering house with 12 bedrooms set in the beautiful Argyll countryside.
The marquee was a 9m x 15m marquee with a 6m x 3m link between the house and the marquee. The catering was managed from the house and the prepared food was served to the marquee via a covered link. This is our first visit of the year to Balinakill House and we look forward to going back later in the summer for another lovely couple coming back from the USA to get married here. Being based in Argyll, we are a bit biased but it is a lovely commute for us when travelling to Balinakill!
We also had our first High Wards wedding of the year, working with Emily and Jim at their self catering house at Gartocharn on the shores of Loch Lomond – a truly gorgeous house in a stunning location.
Film location marquees
Much of our month has been taken up with the installation of marquees for filming. We work very closely with the main production team, supplying marquees to house the hair and make up stations, the costume department, the holding area for the extras and the dining areas for the whole crew/team. The filming schedules often change several times and is very weather dependent but we are extremely flexible and are able to move dates and change the marquee sizes as the production changes. We absolutely appreciate the needs of the team and adapt to their requirements as necessary.
Ceilidh marquee with blow up pub
When you can’t go to the pub, why not bring the pub to you!? These clients hired a marquee for their ceilidh and had a blow up pub next door that provided a watering hole for the thirsty dancers and all with the convenience of it being in their own garden!
Amongst all these events we also managed to squeeze another trip back to Inverkip for the Kip Marina Scottish Food Market and their new event of Spring ‘Boats on Show’ event.
It’s onwards into May now, the season is just about to get into full flow!
