Quick Guide to Hiring Marquees

The following points should help you with the planning of your marquee event and will help us provide you with a more accurate quotation:

LOCATION

  • A fairly flat site is required, preferably on grass, although any level surface can be used
  • There should be vehicle access.
  • We stock specialist flooring systems in 6m, 9m, 12m and 15m widths to deal with sloping or uneven sites.

NUMBER OF GUESTS ATTENDING

  • Consider the Maximum number using the Marquee
  • Is the Layout Concert/Theatre Style?
  • Is the layout dining style with guests seated at tables?
  • Are all guests to be fully seated at the one time?

SPACE REQUIRED

  • Is an area for dancing required?
  • Does the Dance Area have to remain separate or can it be formed by clearing an area after a meal?
  • Is a Bar/Buffet Area to be incorporated?
  • Do caterers require a small service area attached?
  • Are any walkways to join the marquee to a building required?

FLOOR/CARPET

Flooring and carpeting are required in the majority of cases. However, there are some alternatives to be considered:

  • Direct Lay Flooring: Standard flooring is made of interlocking plywood sections and requires a carpet to give a good quality finish. Can be left uncarpeted for very informal events where only a basic flooring is required. Not suitable for use on sloping sites or undulating ground.
  • Suspended Flooring: Our state of the art suspended flooring systems offer a perfectly level surface with a high quality polished floor finish, which means that carpeting is not required (unless by personal preference). Ideal for winter use since the marquee floor is raised from the ground this assists with effective heating and avoiding water ingress on waterlogged sites.
  • Carpet: A choice of carpeting is available with the most cost effective being the fitting of our stock re-usable grey carpet. However, a large range of carpet colours are available in “event” carpet which is only used once and then disposed of. Speak to us for the colour options and likely cost.
  • Does the event require a polished hardwood dancefloor?

TOILETS

  • Is there an adequate supply of toilets in an adjoining building?
  • Are supplementary toilets required?
  • Would you prefer individual chemical toilets or a luxury self-contained unit (cost and type of event may be determining factors).

HEATING

  • Heating is supplied as standard in most cases, as it is generally required all year round, with fuel being charged as per usage.
  • Heating will be supplied by indirect diesel fired heaters. Placed outside the marquee they deliver ample clean hot air to internal diffusers.
  • Thermostatic control ensures your guests are comfortable whatever the weather. Noise levels from these heaters are minimal.

LIGHTING/POWER

  • Is there a power supply available in an adjoining building?
  • Is Lighting required?
  • Various types of lighting are available and the type used depends on the type of function. Exterior lighting can also be placed round the marquee to add that special finishing touch. Power outlets for entertainment, bars and catering can also easily be placed wherever they are required.

INTERNAL FINISHINGS

  • Is an internal Lining, complete with coloured pelmet required?
  • If tables and/or chairs are required - select from the various options.
