There is no doubt that Festivals featuring food are becoming almost as popular as Music Festivals – and in many cases the two complement each other where both the best in Scottish Food and Music talent are showcased. We have been lucky enough to be involved in several Food Festivals this year – each with their own specialist area:
Held in May on the Isle of Bute – against the stunning back drop of Mount Stuart House; the Eat Bute festival showcased the best Scottish produce with the emphasis on the products of Bute. Organised by the Mount Stuart Trust this festival is now in its 6th year and offers a full weekend of activities.
Loch Fyne Food Fair
Another annual event held in May at the famous Loch Fyne Oysters restaurant at Cairndow; again featuring Argyll’s Finest Food and Drink showcased by Argyll Food Producers and complemented by Loch Fyne Ales. A large craft tent and live music adds to the Festival atmosphere at this popular event.
Largs Food Festival
Organised by Taste of Ayrshire this was a new event for 2013, held in August and featured Ayrshire Food producers showcasing a wide range of products including demonstrations by Cook School Scotland
Best of the West Festival (BOWFest)
Now well established in the calendar as a fun Festival featuring the best of the West of Scotland in Food, Drink, Crafts and Music – set against the backdrop of Inveraray Castle and supported by the Duke and Duchess of Argyll. A large Ceilidh Tent was the main feature of the event with bar facilities provided by Fyne Ales and Argyll Food Producers offering a wide selection of Food to Go offered by Argyll Food Producers together with some food available for purchase. Bute and Arran suppliers were also represented.
